'ULTIMATE' EGG HACK IS THE 'BEST WAY TO PEEL' A BOILED EGG WITHOUT ANY STRUGGLES

Whether you're cooking up boiled for breakfast or topping a lunchtime salad, perhaps the most fiddly part of boiling eggs is when it comes to peeling them. However, one creator claims to have discovered the "ultimate" way to peel an egg - and you don't have to do it by hand.

TikTok video creator @themodernnonna shared the video on her page, showing the step-by-step guide to removing your eggshell with ease.

The hack uses a combination of boiling water and cold water to create an environment that lets the shell glide right off.

Once you have boiled your eggs for 10 minutes, the creator recommends placing them directly into a plastic container filled with ice water. Make sure that the container has a secure lid.

"Close the lid shake and the peel will come right off," she explained. "This is the best way to peel a boiled egg."

According to the video, one way to speed up the process and for better results is to very gently crack the bottom of the egg before putting it in the pan to boil. The crack must be so fine that it does not go all the way through the shell, otherwise the yolk would leak out.

However, there are mixed opinions as to whether this step works or is necessary at all. In the comments section of the video, one viewer wrote: "I did this and the egg fell out in the water."

A second person said: "You don't have to crack them before you boil them for you to do this."

Chef Christopher Kimball, one of the founders of America's Test Kitchen and Cook's Country, as the head of the magazine, podcast, TV Show and cooking school 177 Milk Street also suggesting that ice water is the "holy grail" for "easy-to-peel eggs".

"The trick here is a big ice bath for three minutes. Get the inside of the egg to get smaller, pull away from the shell and now it's going to be easy to peel," he said in his own TikTok video.

The chef added: "There we go, finally the holy grail is boiling them for eight minutes for 40 seconds and put them in a big ice back for three minutes. And every egg, not 80 percent, not 90 percent, every egg is going to be easy to peel."
